This class focuses more on critical thinking than on memorization. However, there is still a set of basic U.S. History knowledge each student must know. The justification for the 'memorized material' content of the class is twofold:
1) This information helps you prepare for the objective portion of the AP Examination 2) An understanding of this basic information and sequencing serves as a basis for critical thinking exercises and analyses
There are five different topics for 'Memorized Material' in APUSH. The topics are as follows:
A) United States Presidents B) Significant Supreme Court Cases C) Constitutional Amendments D) Geographical Expansion E) Wars and Treaties
This 'Memorized Material' covers information in both U.S. History I AP and U.S. History II AP. As you reach these topics in class, you will be responsible for acquiring a more in-depth knowledge of the content.
